New Port Captaincy Building
Inspired by the Moorish Barracks,
a Unesco heritage building
a Unesco heritage building
The design of this huge courtyard was inspired by Moorish architecture, more precisely the idea of the interior courtyards of the great palaces; the presence of water that is either punctual or made by linear channels connects fountains and swimming pools that are located in different compartments of the palace itself and aim to refresh the environment and appease the devastating heat of the summer typical of the Arab regions. Thus, these channels, in addition to establishing a playful and narrative path for the space, can serve at the same time as an irrigation system for decorative vegetation.
