Nam Van & Sai Van Lakes Pedestrian Masterplan
Reclaimed lake for a public park
The design master plan attempts to celebrate the iconic shorefront landscape with expansive views of the lakes and reconfigures the overall green areas of Macau as permanent public space with a specific program that aims to meet the citizen’s daily necessities (maintenance circuit) and creates new touristic attractions (public park and temporary bamboo theatre).
Sai Van Lake is considered the most iconic and well preserved shorefront promenades that Macau has kept intact. Under this premise the current master plan on both Nam Van and Sai Van Lakes proposes to preserve its tradition, respecting the layers of rich history which constitute the development of the territory over the decades, by expanding a new land terrace over the water and proposing a dialogue between the new intervention and the existing elements.
