Macao World Heritage Exhibition Hall
Impromptu Projects' winning design was chosen from among invited major local and Greater Bay Area firms.
In essence, the design proposal is more than a built environment, or just a building, it should be interpreted as the creation of a new landscape and cultural infrastructure, linked to the surrounding sites such as the ruins of Saint Paul and the Mount Fortress. We have created a new Heritage Hill where visitors can walk freely and access all its rooftops to enjoy the surrounding scenery while strolling around and benefiting from nature and outdoor life. Geographically speaking, in ancient times and before the land reclamation era, the Macau peninsula consisted of only a few recognisable hilltops, such as Guia Hill, Penha Hill, Mount Fortress, and so on. We have taken this geographical heritage as a concept and embedded it in the Macao World Heritage Exhibition Hall.
