Go with the Flow
Place-Maker 1
What makes a place meaningful? Which are the favourable conditions for a significant public event?
Place-Maker is the name given to several architectural proposals, which consist of a multi-purpose structures, ephemeral by nature, that can be easily assembled and dismantled in a short period of time and they aim at generating an intense social event in the sphere of the public realm. In this sense, these architectural happenings are a form of cultural production, temporarily energizing the locus with an unexpected breath of freshness.
Go with the Flow is a systematic modulation inspired on the public bench. It consists of three model types with sinuous lines, each one is an evolution of the previous in a way that it evolves from a simple table (M3) to commercial display (M2) and finally the amphitheatre (M1). Moreover, each type allows a variety of spatial arrangements and the combination of the various model types creates a total synergy - an interaction of many agents that when combined altogether are greater then the sum of their individual parts.
Go with the Flow hails from a river stream, meaning that the final outcome in a public space (e.g. square), its spatial organisation, intentionally lures the spectators into the path of the events. The spatial movement in which everything occurs is the key feature of this particular proposal.
